Note: A stock Ford wheel will bolt on the top this column. TECH TIP: When installing your stock steering wheel to your ididit Ford Style Retrofit Column, the OEM wheel must be for the same year application as the column (i.e. 1965 Mustang Wheel used with 1965-66 ididit Ford Style Column). Use of a different year WILL result in damage to the turn signal switch.
Note: A stock Ford wheel will bolt to the top of this column.
This retrofit column is designed to fit your Mustang. This Ford Style column features all Ford wiring and a Ford top shaft and will bolt to your stock box or rack & pinion system. To install, simply remove your old column, saving your original underdash mount. A new floor mount is included with this column as well as a collapsible inner shaft, Ford style knobs & levers and male & female plugs with terminals. ididit's Mustang column will accept a stock Mustang steering wheel (see above tech tip) or an aftermarket wheel with an adaptor. By using the stock underdash mount and a new coupler, the installation is a breeze! This 8-position tilt 1965-66 Mustang column is available in Paintable Steel, Chrome and Black Powder Coated. As always, all ididit columns are American Made!
1965-66 Mustang Floor Mount (included with column)
1965-66: Your original column has a solid shaft from inside the gearbox to the steering wheel. This shaft will need to be modified. A new coupler will need to be put in place between the modified shaft and the column.
The 1965-66's Installation Kit for a Stock Box will Include: 3x4"DDx3/4"36 Coupler Only (PN: 3000313449)
The 1965-66's Installation Kit for a Rack & Pinion will include: 3/4"DDx3/4"36 U-Joint, 18"DD Shaft.
Manual Rack will need a U-Joint (3/4"36x?) and a Power Rack will need a Vibration Joint (3/4"36x?). When attaching to your Rack & Pinion system you will need to know the manufactures specs on the output shaft. Once you know what type of U-Joint or Vibration Joint you will need to connect your new column you can then connect to your Rack & Pinion system.
