Now Available - Ford Style Tilt Column Shift Steering Column

FORD STYLE TILT COLUMN SHIFT STEERING COLUMN

IDIDIT introduces the Ford Style Tilt Column Shift Steering Column for Ford ½ Ton Trucks 1965-1973

The Ford community asked and IDIDIT listened! “We’ve heard from several Vintage Ford truck owners that they really love the classic styling and character or their original steering wheels, but they want to replace their tired and worn out steering column and shifting mechanism” says Trever Cornwell of IDIDIT.

For many years IDIDIT offered this option, but not with a column shift. We now stock 1965-73 Ford Truck Tilt Column Shift steering columns that accept the original steering wheel and will plug into the factory Ford wiring, which makes upgrading the steering in any 65-73 Ford Truck simple and straight-forward. IDIDIT steering columns all feature heavy duty castings, tilt and column shift mechanisms and backed by a lifetime warranty.

The Ford Tilt Column Shift column is available for ½ ton Ford Trucks model years 1965-1973. This column is proudly made in the U.S.A. and comes standard with the following features:

  • 8-position tilt
  • Ford splined top-shaft
  • Ford self-cancelling turn signal switch
  • Ford style, billet aluminum knobs and stainless steel levers
  • Ford wiring connectors
  • Pre-welded under dash mount
  • Will work with your stock box or rack and pinion system
  • Lifetime warranty

Changing the game in lightweight performance steering

Changing the game in lightweight performance steering

IDIDIT Performance introduces the Pro-Lite Builder Column & Billet Column Drops.

TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN: Calling all chassis builders! IDIDIT Performance has launched two new products for the street performance, off-road, rock crawling and racing industries that make it simple to improve steering and shed weight at the same time, all while maintaining street legality.

The Pro-Lite Builder Column and Billet Column Drops are geared toward racers whose vehicles sometimes see street duty.

The Pro-Lite Builder steering column is lightweight (6.1 pounds), has 5 inches of collapsibility and is equipped with a self-canceling electronic turn signal switch and four-way hazards. It comes standard with a six-bolt IDIDIT Performance quick-release steering hub that is certified to SFI specification 42.1.

And, even though it’s lightweight, the stylish Pro-Lite column doesnt skimp on safety—it comes equipped with a two-piece collapsible shaft.

“The secret to this column is that most of the steering shaft is a hard-anodized aluminum top-shaft with a GM-style spline and turn signal switch,” reveals Trever Cornwell of IDIDIT Performance. “A ball bearing top bearing and Delrin bushing at the bottom of the column assure long life and smooth steering.

IDIDIT also offers an optional upgrade for the column that includes a momentary switch on the turn signal stalk. This upgrade can be used for horn, nitrous purge, trans brake, or high beams/flash to pass.

Complementing the Builder Column are IDIDIT Performance Billet Column Drop Kits. Machined from a single piece of 6061 aluminum billet and anodized black, they come equipped with stainless steel hardware and a machined Delrin spacer to work with 1-3/4- or 1-5/8-inch under-dash mounts.

Billet Column Drops are available in 3-, 5.5- and 8-inch lengthsLike all IDIDIT Performance products, the Pro-Lite Builder Column and Billet Column Drops are proudly made in the USA.

The Builder Column is particularly suited for drag race, autocross, road course and off-road applications, as well as tube-chassis vehicles. The Motorsport Drops are great for vehicles with roll cages or where factory mounting has been removed or modified.

Winning Car Show T-Shirt Design Inspired by the 1950s

Winning Car Show T-Shirt Design Inspired by the 1950s

Payton Melton’s artwork will serve as the official logo of IDIDIT’s annual Open House.

Payton Melton may have just recently graduated from Lenawee Christian High School in Adrian, Michigan, but she’s always been influenced by 1950s automotive style. A talented artist, Payton was able to capture that nostalgic feel in the winning entry of the 2019 IDIDIT Car Show & Open House T-Shirt Design Contest.

An end-of-summer tradition dating back to 1991, the 2019 IDIDIT Car Show & Open House is set for Sept 14 at the company’s Tecumseh headquarters. The event includes an all-vehicles-welcome car show, as well as facility tours, vendor displays, food trucks and more.

“I was really inspired by ’50s-style cars and retro design,” Payton said of her entry, featuring a finned coupe parked beneath a classic IDIDIT sign. “That gave me the inspiration for my design. I have always loved the ’50s and the style that came with it, so this was an opportunity to create something with that style.”

Payton lives in Adrian with her parents, Todd and Noelle, and five siblings. She will be attending Huntington University in the fall, studying Children’s Ministry and minoring in Studio Art. Her winning submission earned her a $1,500 scholarship to help with college expenses.

Meanwhile, Open House attendees will be greeted by her artwork on signage and T-shirts while they take in the car show and other festivities. Open to any show-worthy vehicle regardless of year, make or model, the popular gathering celebrates car culture in all its forms, offering a family atmosphere in which to enjoy classic vehicles of yesterday and today.

“It’s our pleasure to host some of the most beautiful cars and trucks from throughout the Great Lakes region at our annual Car Show & Open House, and Payton’s beautiful design just adds to the excitement” said Trever Cornwell of IDIDIT. “This industry is something to celebrate, and we invite all of our neighbors and friends to come share in the fun.”

The daylong event includes facility tours, a vendor tent, food trucks and a live DJ. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods for the food drive, and the Lenawee Humane Society will raffle a custom golf cart featuring an IDIDIT steering column.

In the display area, car owners will compete for one-of-a-kind trophies made in-house by IDIDIT craftspeople in nine categories:

  • 1948-Older Street Rod
  • 1949-’64 Car
  • 1965-’79 Car
  • 1980-Newer Car
  • 1948-’66 Truck
  • 1967-’87 Truck
  • 1988-Newer Truck
  • Founder’s Choice
  • Best Garage Build

Best Garage Build is a new category designed to celebrate car owners who performed restoration and rebuild work on their own. TV celebrity Brother JD from Wrench Wars will be on hand to present the inaugural Best Garage Build trophy, and vehicles can be entered in the Founder’s Choice and/or Best Garage Build categories, as well as their appropriate vehicle year category. Additionally, Founder’s Choice has been added as a category, which replaces the Best Restoration category from previous years. IDIDIT founders Ken and Jane Callison will award the winner of Founder’s Choice during this year’s Car Show.
